The effects of environmental regulation on firm competitiveness: The Porter Hypothesis under the lens
In 2017, Chile introduced a green tax targeting plants with a power capacity of 50 MW or higher. I exploit this and other discontinuities in the tax design to identify the effects of environmental regulation on firm competitiveness and employment across diverse industries.
